Each year the CSM Industry Advisory Board recognizes a Alumni and Industry leaders by presenting to each group one of the awards mentioned below.  If you know someone deserving of the award please nominate them.  This year's deadline in December 31, 2014.

Clemson University’s Department of Construction Science and Management Department

Announces the Call for Nominations for its Annual Distinguished Alumni and Construction Hall of Fame National Awards

 

The department would like to receive nominations for the two below noted national awards by December 31, 2014.  Please refer to the criteria below for each award.  Please note that anyone nominating someone for the Distinguished Alumnus Award is obligated to obtain three additional letters of recommendation as noted below.  The nominator’s and the three additional letters are to be sent to Roger Liska, Chair and Professor, Department of Construction Science and Management, Clemson University, 123 Lee Hall’  Clemson, SC 29634.  The CSM faculty selects the recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award.  As for the Construction Hall of Fame Award, anyone can make recommendations and they are passed on to the noted selection group for nomination and selection.  When nominating someone for this award please do so in a formal letter answering to all of the noted criteria.  The letter is to also be sent to Roger Liska. Distinguished Alumnus Award - This award is given annually to a graduate of Clemson University’s Department of Construction Science and Management who graduated a minimum of ten years prior to the award.  Nominees must have distinguished themselves since graduation in a construction field and have demonstrated consistent support of the CSM Department since graduation.  Anyone may nominate an individual that they feel is qualified for consideration. The person nominating an individual will be responsible for obtaining a minimum of three (3) additional letters from those knowledgeable of the nominee’s qualifications. Nomination Letters are encouraged to be from a cross section of construction community (e.g. Owners, Lenders, Designers, Contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers).

 

Construction Hall of Fame - The Clemson University Department of Construction Science and Management Construction Hall of fame recognizes the accomplishments of those who have distinguished themselves throughout their careers in construction.  The qualifications for nominations are proposed as follows:

 

  • The nominee is to be someone who is truly outstanding in construction. He or she need not be a graduate of CSM.

 

  • Only members of the Construction Hall of Fame and Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary of the CSM Industry Advisory Board Executive Committee can nominate and vote for those persons to receive the award. Anyone can recommend someone to a member but the nomination must be by a member of the Construction Hall of Fame or CSM Industry Advisory Board Executive Committee Officers.

 

  • Nominees need to be not only distinguished because they contribute to construction of quality facilities and have the esteem of peers, but also they need to be active in their profession, serving as officers in professional organizations and be active in their community.

 

  • Nominees are people who have supported the CSM Department in some capacity.

 

  • With the honor of being inducted comes the responsibility of serving on the Construction Hall of Fame Committee.

 

  • That new inductees are encouraged to make an oral presentation to a meeting of all of the students in the CSM Department.
