Corporate Financial Support (Corporate Partners)

Clemson University’s Department of Construction Science and Management (CSM) is one of the nation’s top ten construction education programs.  Its accredited undergraduate and graduate programs attract quality students from throughout the world.  The program graduates hold leadership positions in the major sectors of the construction industry in the United States and overseas.  In addition, the students within the department are fully engaged in their educational activities both within and outside the formal classroom environment.

The CSM Department is nationally and internationally recognized for its close ties with the construction industry.  Its faculty conduct applied research sponsored by major construction companies and associations including the Construction Industry Institute.  The Department’s most recent research effort has resulted in the development of 13 Best Practice Guides for the Construction Industry with an additional four in the process of being developed. In addition, many of the faculty have developed and delivered continuing education courses for the industry.  In fact, the Department is co-sponsor to the most successful worldwide effort in the development and delivery of supervisory and project management training for the construction industry in conjunction with the National Center for Construction Education and Research.  Finally, many of the Department’s faculty hold leadership positions on national and international professional construction governing boards.  To help insure the continuing quality of education the students receive, professional development opportunities for faculty and to enhance the CSM Department’s continuous collaboration with the construction industry, the Corporate Partner Program was developed.

The Corporate Partner Program offers the opportunity for construction businesses to improve their company performance and to demonstrate their commitment to Clemson University’s Department of Construction Science and Management (CSM) and its students through direct financial support of its educational, research and professional development activities.

The mission of the Corporate Partner Program is to support professionally-related activities of the students and faculty in the CSM Department and those of its Center for the Improvement of Construction Management and Processes (CICMP).  In terms of professional student and faculty activities these include field trips to project sites, participation in local, regional and national construction association competitions, and faculty professional development.  In addition, support from the Corporate Partners provides seed money for applied research and professional development projects for the benefit of the Corporate Partners conducted through the CICMP.

The mission of the CICMP is to conduct applied research and professional development activities pertaining to proven “Best Practices” that will result in more effective and efficient construction. The CICMP houses all of the research and professional development conducted by the CSM Department along with working with the construction industry on various initiatives.

One example is the Center co-sponsors the one week Project management Academies with the National Center for Construction Education Research located outside of Gainesville, Florida.
